Welcome to Charleston Restaurant Week. We chose a cozy little table at one of our favorites, SNOB, which stands for Slightly North Of Broad.
If you go to the Charleston Restaurant Association Website you will find a list of participating restaurants. The list ranges from restaurants which offer 3 for $20, to 3 for $30, to lastly 3 for $40. SNOB is in the middle of the road at 3 for $30. The 3 courses included are an appetizer, entree, and dessert.
While there is a 3 for $30 menu, you may opt to choose from the restaurant's everyday menu. Mark and I did so because we fancied other options. Also, sometimes it is difficult to eat all 3 courses. In the past many restaurants have allowed my request to exchange the dessert for another glass of wine when I was overly stuffed. Don't be afraid to ask.
What did Mark and I have our eyes on below?
We started by sharing a bowl of butternut squash soup, a glass of chianti, and Mark had his usual IPA.
Pan Seared Scallops sat comfortably on a plate and were joined by butter beans, okra, and tomato hock broth.
There was a roasted lamb rack on a second plate at our table which had company too. Toasted cauliflower, eggplant caponata, and a rosemary reduction lounged next to the lamb.
That was the perfect meal and there was absolutely no room for dessert. I guess you'll just have to grab your own seat at SNOB to find out what their desserts are like! Remember to make dinner reservations in advance and try their lunch on the weekdays. SNOB's lunch has mostly the same food offered as the dinner menu and it is really well discounted.
Enjoy Charleston Restaurant Week, only a few days left!
