Black Tap

One of our favorite places to get coffee in town is Black Tap.  If you haven't had a chance to try their yummy cups of deliciousness, do yourself a favor and GO!

We found a seat by the window and got to watch this beautiful beast.

He or she was waiting for his momma and totally called me out on taking his picture.
Look at that stare...

Take a look at this delicious soy latte...

It was a bit chilly that day.  Mark enjoyed a hot cocoa to warm up after a ride downtown in the golf cart.

SNOB

Welcome to Charleston Restaurant Week.  We chose a cozy little table at one of our favorites, SNOB, which stands for Slightly North Of Broad.

If you go to the Charleston Restaurant Association Website you will find a list of participating restaurants.  The list ranges from restaurants which offer 3 for $20, to 3 for $30, to lastly 3 for $40.  SNOB is in the middle of the road at 3 for $30.  The 3 courses included are an appetizer, entree, and dessert.

While there is a 3 for $30 menu, you may opt to choose from the restaurant's everyday menu.  Mark and I did so because we fancied other options.  Also, sometimes it is difficult to eat all 3 courses.  In the past many restaurants have allowed my request to exchange the dessert for another glass of wine when I was overly stuffed.  Don't be afraid to ask.

What did Mark and I have our eyes on below?

We started by sharing a bowl of butternut squash soup, a glass of chianti, and Mark had his usual IPA.

Pan Seared Scallops sat comfortably on a plate and were joined by butter beans, okra, and tomato hock broth.

There was a roasted lamb rack on a second plate at our table which had company too.  Toasted cauliflower, eggplant caponata, and a rosemary reduction lounged next to the lamb.

That was the perfect meal and there was absolutely no room for dessert.  I guess you'll just have to grab your own seat at SNOB to find out what their desserts are like!  Remember to make dinner reservations in advance and try their lunch on the weekdays.   SNOB's lunch has mostly the same food offered as the dinner menu and it is really well discounted.

Enjoy Charleston Restaurant Week, only a few days left!

Russian Hats and Moscow Mules

I took full advantage of the opportunity to bundle up in my faux Russian hat with the cold weather.

A friend came into town and we headed out for dinner and drinks.   We had our Italian fix at Indaco and then the frigid temps led us a block away to Rarebit for drinks.

Buy yourself a hat on sale at Banana Republic

My faux leather quilted shoulder jacket is from Ann Taylor.  Buy it 40% off of $159 with the code ENJOY now.

The Rarebit has a pretty cool interior space.  check it out...

...and they serve one infamous drink, the moscow mule, in copper mugs...

What is a moscow mule?

The Rarebit's Ingredients:

Smirnoff Vodka
Sweatman's Gingerbeer
Limeade
Garnish with a twist of lime

That cool copper mug can also be purchased for $20 at Rarebit or you may find a set for yourself on amazon.

We all took turns with the Russian hat, cheers!

Try a moscow mule for yourself, either at Rarebit or make one at home!  It's delicious!
