Drawing Room

We often scurry to enjoy The Rooftop at Vendue Inn but we have all been missing out on what a gem lies just downstairs, the Drawing Room Restaurant.

A friend of ours invited us to dinner and chef Jon Cropf made sure it was extra special.

19 Vendue Range
Charleston, SC 29401
843-414-2334

Radishes with whipped butter...

Beets with duck prosciutto and smoked goat cheese...

Tartar of venison with pork cracklings and capers...

One of my favorite dishes, cream of lettuce...

Incredible cornbread...

Beignets filled with custard, brandied fruit, and foie gras...

Fresh bean salad with mint...

Chef Jon Cropf deserves a round of applause.  What an incredible talent!

Chef with my friend Tammi of @gracesandgrits

Just when you thought you were full, sweetened carrot...

Carrot cake...

Olive oil cake with sweetened ricotta...

Then boom, this piece of art was set in front of us with it's own strawberry pour.  To achieve that beautiful precise sliver, the strawberry gelatin was cut with razorblades... amazing!

What a special night and nice treat! Thank you chef Jon and sweet Tammi!

We rode our bicycles home to burn off the yummy brunch we just enjoyed.  You can rent bicycles in town here.  Some Inns in Charleston have bicycles you can use while you stay.  Try the Vendue Inn and Elliott House Inn downtown, they are two that I know of with bicycles.  The Vendue has the rooftop restaurant called the Library and the Elliot House has a little hot tub in the courtyard.
