Entertaining and XBB

I love entertaining at our home so of course I had my family over for some appetizers.  We sat and caught up a while and then headed out to a neighborhood restaurant called Xiao Bao Biscuit (XBB).  XBB is located at 224 Rutledge Avenue at the corner of Spring Street.

We chowed on some Bucherondin cheese, a creamy, mildly tangy goat cheese....

We devoured this smoked salmon with fresh squeezed lemon juice and more goat cheese.

Our wine of choice was this Cotes-Du-Rhone Grenache.

Mark sets the tone with some Louis Prima on the Apple TV.

XBB is just 2 blocks from our home so we headed over by foot.  (Keep in mind XBB is not open on Sundays.)  Look at what a great job they did when they turned this old gas station into a fun restaurant.

I indulged in the cabbage pancake (Okonomiyaki as it is called on the menu).

This is the fish dinner called Cha Ca Hanoi.  You can see more food pictures on XBB's website. www.xiaobaobiscuit.com

Bastille Day Beginnings

The French Independence Day is celebrated here in Charleston every year.  If you are in town next year, head over to the restaurant called Fish on King Street for their Bastille Day celebration.  Their celebration includes dancing ladies, music, pomme frites (fresh cut french fries), beignets, a game of petanque on the porch (a french bocce ball game), grape stompers, a mime, and so much more.

This Bastille Day was the day I decided to start this blog with some convincing from these two lovely ladies.  Thanks girls!

Then head south on King Street and go to Bin 152, my favorite place in town.  Bin 152 is a wine and cheese bar that is so incredibly romantic and delicious.

Try their cheeses and charcuterie, you'll return every night thereafter for more.
